Say Your One Minute Prayers Often

Prayers always help. Frequent prayers help frequently. You can say “Om” or “One” and concentrate on “emptying” your mind of thousands of thoughts. Then, you can focus your mind on whatever you want to do at that time, that hour or that day. Focusing helps in getting things done one by one and it also “decongests” your mind so that you can see more clearly.

I would like to share my one-minute prayers with you. I introspect : “Bhagwanjee, I have all that I need. Thank you very much for everything. What I don’t have, I do not need. I mean it. Please give me health, wisdom, the ability to serve and courage. Also give these to my near ones…” I mention their names. I am able to relax. I am able to give auto-suggestions to myself. I do not want to be selfish, and ask God for conventional favours. I want to keep on giving positive strokes to my mind which is the fountainhead of happiness. I am aware that I have to work for what I want. There are no free lunches.

I know people who spend fifteen to ninety minutes saying their prayers and going thru the rituals. They use beads to reduce their stress and anger. The idea is to say nice things – even to yourself. It will help you think positive. Find out what suits you and customize your prayers to suit your circumstances.

Count your Blessings
Very frequently during the day I count my blessing, which are plenty. For example, sometimes, I remind myself to be happy by thanking God that I don’t have to undergo open-heart surgery. And in case I had to, I would still thank God, because I not have diabetes. And if, God forbid, I had that too, I would say, thank God, I can get my bypass done at Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre for Rs.1,50,000 as Escorts will pay for it. I would also be happy because I would have the attention of my friends and colleagues.

This is one scenario. You can think of other scenarios relating to your situation. The idea is to be full of positive thoughts even when you are going through a bad phase.

Remember, tough times don’t last, tough people do.
